Since 2006, the TRUMPF TSC 1 Slat Cleaner, which won the German government’s award for innovation, has provided valuable service to many users of laser cutting systems. With the
TruTool TSC 2, the company is bringing a new generation of the popular tool to the market, which can now be operated by a single person.
TRUMPF slat cleaners are specialty tools which allow the operators of flatbed laser cutting machines to clean slag from the support slats of their pallets quickly and easily during production. Previously, this task was primarily handled with hammers and similarly crude utensils, and took hours. Alternatively, machine operators often simply replaced their slagged pallets – an expensive undertaking. With the new TruTool TSC 2, the Ditzingen-based company presents a refined tool retaining all of the advantages of its predecessor, while being even simpler; and with optional accessories, capable of one person operation. The operator turns the device on, sets it in a row of slats – and the TruTool TSC 2 removes the collected slag under its own power. A specially developed guiding rod now allows the slat cleaner to be guided to the end of the pallet. Once it gets there, it can be retracted by a sliding shoe and used to clean the next row. The cable guide is fastened to the guiding rod. Thanks to this technical change, the TruTool TSC 2 amortizes even more quickly than its predecessor. The quick one-person cleaning operation costs only about a quarter as much as replacement of a pallet of slats. In comparison with manual cleaning, costs are about two-thirds lower. And the new slat cleaner is superior when it comes to maintenance and service lifetime. For instance, to simplify the lubrication of the rollers, TRUMPF increased the size of the vent holes located on the tool. A clear visual lubrication control was also added. A few other improvements are not visible from outside, such as the redesigned clutch. It is adjustable and requires even less maintenance than its predecessor, increasing the service life of the TruTool TSC 2 and lengthening the time between servicing. And, the new cleaning rollers with inner teeth allow an ideal transition to gears, setting the stage for consistently high-quality cleaning cycles. TRUMPF has also succeeded in further improving the cleaning results of the TruTool TSC. A steel brush was built in to remove the loose slag between the slats, and the brush lasts a long time with consistently high quality. These many improvements increase the service lifetime of gears, clutch and rollers, as well as the overall performance of the slat cleaner. |
